The Podservatory - a bespoke product from Outside Space Solutions - is a modern take on the traditional conservatory, with a focus on sleek design, energy efficiency, and functionality.

hen it comes to enhancing the space in our homes, a conservatory, awning, gazebo, sun room or pergola has traditionally been the go-to solution. However, there is now a new kid on the block: the Podservatory. So, what exactly is a Podservatory, and how does it compare to more traditional outdoor structures or home extension?

The Podservatory – a bespoke product from our sister company Outside Space Solutions – is a modern take on the traditional conservatory, with a focus on sleek design, energy efficiency, and functionality. Their sleek lines and minimal framing create a sense of openness and light, making them ideal for those who want to create a bright, airy living space. Take a look at the Podservatory retractable roof in action HERE.

“The Podservatory option ticked a lot of the boxes and we are so glad that we went ahead with it. The quality and build of the structure is a top offering.”

The Podservatory sliding doors make this top value home extension a perfect space to enjoy all year round

It can be used as an outside dining space, a playroom, a home office, a pool cover – you name it! You get to choose the finish – we can even colour match the Podservatory to your home – and you can choose to add various heat, light and flooring options.

Conservatories have been an added home feature for decades, so homeowners are well aware that with it being a mainly glazed structure, it can get uncomfortably hot in summer. This is where our innovative Podservatory retractable roof comes in. Whilst you can still retain comfortable heat, with the eco-efficient Podservatory you can open up 50% of the structure so that any stifling heat dissipates in seconds.

Then of course there are the winter months, when even if your conservatory is double glazed it can still get cold. The highly energy-efficient sliding roof Podservatory however is an additional outside/inside space that can be closed off to your house. This means that within your bespoke order you can add infrared heaters to be mounted onto your existing house, which will heat your Podservatory up in a matter of minutes when using the space.

One of the most significant advantages of the Podservatory over more traditional extendable roofs is their cost. A Podservatory is typically cheaper than traditional conservatories – sometimes as little as half the price – making them an affordable option for homeowners who want to create additional living areas and utilise garden space without breaking the bank.

But do you require foundations or planning permission for a retractable roof such as the Podservatory? Happily no, the Podservatory does not require foundations, making them much easier to install than traditional garden buildings or roof extensions. All our installers need is a level solid base, and most customers choose to add a composite decking base to their design, which has a 25 year warranty and is almost maintenance free. Unless your building is listed or the Podservatory size/shape is particularly unique you do not require planning permission either (although it is always best to check with your local authority.

Above 10m span it is 25mm. All our enclosures are adaptive and can have a maximum span of 100m without any centre support.
  • A roof weighs around 14-20kg/sq.m and weight is proportional to the span. Up to 10m span it weighs 14kg and above 10m span, it weighs 20kg/sq.m These are the only roofs/enclosures on the market which give grid-free opening.
  • Our retractable roofs & enclosures can be installed to an existing house or rooftop or on a new build project.

In summary, if you’re looking for a durable, long-lasting and versatile solution for your pool, rooftop or outdoor space, our retractable enclosures and roofs are the perfect option. Finally, here’s what one of our recent customers, Varun, had to say:

“We did not want a traditional conservatory and were looking at more hybrid options. The Podservatory option ticked a lot of the boxes and we are so glad that we went ahead with it. The quality and build of the structure is a top offering. Outside Space Solutions were easy to work with and provided a professional and a quality service. The structure is a pleasant feature of our house and we would highly recommend Outside Space Solutions.”
